Fully
Responsive Websites

Responsive web design is the practice of designing websites that are suitable or rather compatible to every output device of any screen size regardless of how large or small, mobile, tablet or desktop. This process concentrates on providing an intuitive and satisfying experience to everyone. It does not discriminate any user such that it benefits each user alike. Here at Jumptoweb we like for most of our websites to be responsive and take the time to explain to our clients the benefits of having a responsive web design.

Mobile Friendly Websites

First there is need to differentiate between responsive web design and adaptive web design. Responsive implies responding or reacting quickly and positively to any changes unlike adaptive, which generally modifies for a few purposes such as change. Responsively designed websites change based on different factors like viewport width while adaptive websites are developed for groups but a combination of the two is the best.

The term responsive wed design was first coined and developed by Ethan Marcotte in his online work and in his book Responsive Web Design, which we highly recommend.

Responsive web design has three major components: flexible image layouts, flexible media and media queries.

Responsive web design has three major components: flexible image layouts, flexible media and media queries.

Flexible Layouts

The layout is used to develop a responsive web design with a flexible grid with dynamic resizing capabilities to any width, they are built by applying relevant length units usually percentages which later are used to dictate common grid properties like margin, width or padding. The responsive images are resized in relevant units to keep them from stretching outside the device’s screen size. It also does not entertain the use of relative measurements like pixel or inches because the viewport height and width continually change from display device to device. The responsive web design layout hence must adapt to these changes. To reinforce this concept Ethan further developed formulae indicating the proportion of flexible layout using relevant values.
